OWN YOUR HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
How to OWN your healthy lifestyle - S I M P L I C I T Y
Are you constantly working on building a healthy lifestyle that works for you? Do you hear about the latest diet or supplement trend and instantly wonder if it’s something you need to try?
A few weeks ago, a random news article popped up on my phone that intrigued me. It was the “top non-negotiable diet, sleep, & exercise routines for a longer life” from a longevity expert.
I don’t like to get health/fitness information from random articles generally, but I do like to read them to see what kind of information is being put out to the masses. I was mainly looking to see if he had anything to say that was a shock to me (or that I disagreed with).
Spoiler alert, he didn’t.
Everything he spoke about can be broken down to the one thing I try to live my health & fitness lifestyle by: SIMPLICITY.
Eat more veggies. Check. Eating all colors of the rainbow as often as possible is important!
Eat less processed/packaged food. Check. Strive for whole foods as much as possible.
Drink more water. Check. Starting your day off with a glass and sip often throughout the day.
Incorporate more healthy fats. Check. Avocado, walnuts, almonds, eggs, fish, flax & chia seeds, etc.
Sleep more. Check. Rest & recovery are KEY building blocks to progress.
Move often & move more. Check check check. All movement counts. Walks, yoga, biking, running, lifting, swimming, stretching, house chores, playing with your dog/kids. All movement counts (it’s important enough to say twice).
Constantly work on quitting bad habits. Check - sort of. I prefer to look at it as constantly trying to set good habits, but by nature that should reduce the bad habits. Simple, small habits add up. Habit stacking is huge!
In general, getting into the weeds with your health & fitness is not necessary - at least until you’ve mastered the basics.
Don’t overthink your food/workouts/habits. They can be simple. Back to basics. Eat fresher foods. Move more. Sleep enough. Build baby healthy habits.
